What does the warranty cover?
A 25 year limited residential warranty, 10 years commercial and a 25 year limited stain warranty, with fade measured as a colour change over 5 Delta E. It doesn’t cover wear and tear, poor maintenance, static, use of a high-pressure cleaner or installation that doesn’t follow the guide.
How do you install NewTechWood?
Ground clearance is 100 mm over soil and 40 mm over concrete for Avenue, and boards should acclimatise for at least two days. The ideal installation temperature is +5 to +25 degrees. Hidden-fix gaps are 3 mm or 5.5 mm. End gaps depend on temperature and board length: a 5.4 m board needs 8.6 mm at 10 degrees, 5.4 mm at 25 and 2.2 mm at 40, halved if gaps are left at both ends.
NewTechWood doesn’t recommend face-fixing a whole deck. Where you must, pre-drill slightly larger than the screw, and keep screws 38 mm from board ends and edges on fascia and picture-frame boards. Its Metal Fix screws suit steel joists up to 2 mm thick, and Metal Fix clips aren’t covered by warranty on Stratco Probeam or similar double-wall profiles.
Care
NewTechWood suggests a monthly clean with water, mild detergent and a soft brush. High-pressure cleaning isn’t recommended and is excluded from the warranty. Static can build up on co-extruded boards in low humidity, and an anti-static spray reduces it, though static isn’t covered. Seal cut ends with a clear sealant. Chlorinated pool water won’t harm the boards, but undiluted chlorine and pool salt shouldn’t be spilled on them. Reflections from Low-E glass can cause extreme heat that may melt, sag or warp boards.
StructurAL and tiles
StructurAL is an aluminium frame for decking over solid surfaces such as membranes, tiles and concrete, using polypropylene NIVO pedestals, 60 by 40 mm aluminium joists in 3 m lengths and stainless fixings. The deck floor sits from 103 mm above the existing surface, pedestals under the joists are no more than 75 cm apart and the overhang is 20 cm at most. NewTechWood’s NIVO pedestal chart gives the maximum spacing against joist centres. See the span tables guide.
The DIY composite deck tiles are 600 by 300 mm, ten to a box covering 1.8 m², with a drainage grid underneath and 95 percent recycled content, according to NewTechWood.
